Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline  Book Review by Cassia Ashen This book was SO good!!! The nostalgia! The 80's pop culture! The references!  My inner nerd was having a blast. I'm * almost * speechless. The Writing: 5/5 I don't have much to say on this. The Plot: 3.5/5 The concept was very good, It was almost like The Hunger Games meets Otherworld . I mean come on, a cutthroat dystopian MMO battle to the death, searching for an easter egg? Sign me up! The Characters: 4/5 Wade was a gem. Humorous, Nerdy, Average looking, and quick-witted he was a really enjoyable narrator/protagonist. Aech was awesome with his sarcastic comments and equally nerdy personality. Art3mis was also an interesting character with her insecurities and her stubborn attitude. But personally I loved James Halliday. The Setting: 4/5 Believable and immersive, it was a nice place to lose myself in for a few days.... Much like the OASIS.

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter Book Review by Cassia Ashen I personally did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I WANTED this to be a dark, twisted, and macabre retelling of Alice in Wonderland so bad........I had just finished Splintered and so I probably had pretty high hopes.... But still. This book was pretty. freaking. crappy. What I ACTUALLY GOT  A whiny, and cliched, trashy teenage novel with literally nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland... minus the fact that the main character's name is Alice, And that there is a white cloud shaped like a rabbit. Those are LITERALLY the ONLY similarities. Ugh. If you read the synopsis and thought this was going to be unique twist on Alice in Wonderland...You were wrong. and you WILL be disappointing. If you read the synopsis and thought this was going to be a YA novel with little to no plot...... YAY! good for you. You'll probably enjoy this. Excuse me. I need to go cleanse my brai...

The WORST Book EVER

Image
Hello fellow Bookworms! Today I write about something extremely unfortunate... I have had the terrible misfortune of reading the WORST book I have EVER. Insanity by Cameron Jace. (I do like the cover artwork though) Ugh no.  No no no no NO .  This book was horrible, terrible, appalling, atrocious, obnoxious, ghastly, dreadful, disgusting, loathsome, abhorrent, repugnant, and just.plain.AWFUL.  I am even going to go as far as to say this is THE worst book I have EVER read. The sentence structure: Trash.  with sentences like; "She is quite a nice woman. Let's not waste time, we need to get to the asylum and change before we visit her." He turns and talks to the driver. It's not the chauffeur this time. Just a normal guy."  There are so many things wrong with this thought.  Like that wonderfully descriptive depiction of the driver. Wow. He's not a chauffeur, just a normal guy.  That really paints a very specific pictu...

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas  Book Review by Cassia Ashen Where to start... where to start..... How about with the Watery-Freakin'-Bowels. Yes you heard me correctly. When I picked up this book I thought it would be super cool! The hype was huge! The synopsis sounded great!  ( Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place... Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie...  Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse... )  Sounds pretty badass right!? Well it would be, if the itty baby heroine could actually hunt. but noooooooo.  She pukes.  And pukes.  And her bowels turn watery (3 times to be precise).  And she screams.  And she hides.  And then she keeps coming back for more!  I mean honestly, if you want you're readers to be rooting for your "badass" heroine then maybe, just  maybe  have her not be a p...

The Serpent King by Jeff Zenter Book Review

The Serpent King by Jeff Zenter  Book Review by Cassia Ashen          What Zenter has managed to create is a simultaneously gut-wrenching and heartwarming demonstration of contemporary YA at it's very finest.  Serpent King is a beautiful tale of coming of age, pushing past personal difficulties and tragedies, and realizing that your parents and their problems should not define you. Filled with truly believable characters, a riveting plot, and a wonderful writing style, The Serpent King is an amazing read. I couldn't put it down. (Check out this review and more on Goodreads!) Thank you, and happy reading! - Cassia

Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1) by Anna Banks, Book Review by Cassia Ashen

Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy #1) by Anna Banks Book Review by Cassia Ashen Nope. I went into this knowing it was a mermaid book, and thinking "Hey! a lot of people love mermaids! Maybe I will too!" Nope. Just nope. Random hot dudes with glowing violet eyes? Girls getting brutally dismembered by a shark twenty feet offshore in a highly populated area, 2 pages into the book? Not for me. I have so many complaints with this book, I can't even list them all.... DO NOT RECOMMEND For further evidence look at my progress comments and review on Goodreads,  Here . -_-

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken Book Review by Cassia Ashen

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken Book review by Cassia Ashen OK! I am finally getting around to writing this review! Well. If I had to sum the whole book up in a sentence, I'd say....... The plot had more holes than Swiss cheese. Now I'm sorry, But I really, REALLY wanted to love this book, and what with so many other people loving it, and the film adaption coming soon, I thought I would... But nope. I just could not get into it. Now I was totally willing to COMPLETELY overlook the seemingly half-ass writing, (*cough* Divergent *cough*) but there were just too many other elements that I didn't like... For example; 95% of the time I didn't even understand what the hell was going on, or why the characters did anything they did! Ugh. It was really quite frustrating to be honest. Like how you're just supposed to figure out the colors all on your own with little to no help from the author, ALSO. I don't understand how this whole ...
