A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

Where to start... where to start..... How about with the Watery-Freakin'-Bowels.

Yes you heard me correctly. When I picked up this book I thought it would be super cool! The hype was huge! The synopsis sounded great!

(Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place... Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie...  Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse...

Sounds pretty badass right!?

Well it would be, if the itty baby heroine could actually hunt. but noooooooo.

She pukes.

And pukes.

And her bowels turn watery (3 times to be precise).

And she screams.

And she hides.

And then she keeps coming back for more!

I mean honestly, if you want you're readers to be rooting for your "badass" heroine then maybe, just maybe have her not be a pathetic little wimp who's best attempt at a snare ends up harmlessly smacking the maid in the face, who steals butter knives off the table to defend herself from 500 year old ancient high fae, and who every. single. time she picks up a weapon ends up dropping it, losing it, or getting disarmed... Just a thought.

ALSO, the romance itself is terrible. For one thing the main love interest is AT LEAST 483 years older than the protagonist... I'm pretty sure I can't be only one who finds that MILDLY disturbing.
And I'm sorry but Fire Night is a PATHETIC excuse for a festival.
*wearily rubs face with hand*

Like seriously, who's idea was it to be like "Yo everyone! We're all gonna have a huge f*ckin orgy to make the MAGIC POWER STORES FOR THE YEAR."

I mean, if you think about it, every time someone uses magic BAM they are tapping into the High Lord's sexy-power. That is um... interesting.
I mean Sarah J Maas has originality I suppose... It is *definitely* the weirdest way I've ever heard anyone explain where magic comes from...

Buuuuut I did give the book three stars so I should probably explain why... Well the answer is relatively simple. I think it's gonna get better, and I like Rhysand's character. At least I am intrigued enough to want to keep reading. So all in all, there were many many flaws in this book. There was. But none of them were quite big enough for me to stop reading.... And at times I did enjoy the story.
