2.5 stars.
I found this book pretty boring. NOT teeeerrrible.... But it WAS predictable and the plot was pretty basic. A really sad ending to what the first book promised to be an epic and exciting paranormal western.
Jefferson is still adorable. Becky is still badass.....
I don't really know what to say,
80% of the book was just devoted to coming up with/and then trying to defeat a COMPLETELY NEW antagonist!
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. Hiram Westfall just randomly decided to pack up and leave for Australia.... ERGGGGG.
Now there is this new villain-dude that we, as readers, are just supposed to forget about Hiram, (Who killed Lee's PARENTS and STOLE HER HOUSE and ENSLAVED PEOPLE, STARVED THEM AND THEN GAVE THEM MERCURY) and suddenly drop everything to immediately hate this new guy; James Henry Hardwick... Uh no. This is not gonna work for me.
Honestly, Hardwick is B.O.R.I.N.G. He is just a coward who wants to get rich. That's basically all you REALLY know about him. ugh ugh ugh.
I saw every little "Plot Twist" from a mile away. AND THEN, on top of everything else that is wrong with this book, We don't get any real answers at the end!!
Like for example,
Why on earth Lee's mom just randomly decided to leave the man she was supposedly in 'love' with and go and get hitched to his brother whom she'd never shown any interest in. -_- In all 343 pages we DO NOT GET ANY ANSWERS.
I really wanted to like the rest of this trilogy. But honestly I fell in love with Walk On Earth A Stranger, and the other two just got progressively more pointless and boring.
