Splintered (Splintered #1) by A.G. Howard Book Review by Cassia Ashen (This review is for a reread. Contains spoilers) Okay! I am finally getting around to writing this review!  Now I just want to start off by saying that I may have a slightly biased opinion for a few reasons; A) I absolutely adore Alice in Wonderland/Alice Through The Looking Glass, B) and I have an unhealthy obsession with dark/twisted/macabre fairy retellings. This book has both! There ARE a few things that I could probably complain about if I wanted to... (romanticizing mental health patients/asylums, extremely overprotective love interest),  But all in all I loved this book! One thing you should know about me is that I usually absolutely hate love triangles. I think they are tacky and cheesy and cliche. HOWEVER. A.G Howard shocked me by  (almost) being able to pull off a love triangle that I could handle. I know, I know, your probably thinking; "almost? She 'almost' pulled it off?" and...

Into the Bright Unknown (The Gold Seer Trilogy #3) by Rae Carson Book Review

Into the Bright Unknown (The Gold Seer Trilogy #3) by   Rae Carson Book Review 2.5 stars.  I found this book pretty boring. NOT teeeerrrible.... But it WAS predictable and the plot was pretty basic. A really sad ending to what the first book promised to be an epic and exciting paranormal western. Jefferson is still adorable. Becky is still badass..... I don't really know what to say, 80% of the book was just devoted to coming up with/and then trying to defeat a COMPLETELY NEW antagonist!  SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. Hiram Westfall just randomly decided to pack up and leave for Australia.... ERGGGGG.  Now there is this new villain-dude that we, as readers, are just supposed to forget about Hiram, (Who killed Lee's PARENTS and STOLE HER HOUSE and ENSLAVED PEOPLE, STARVED THEM AND THEN GAVE THEM MERCURY) and suddenly drop everything to immediately hate this new guy; James Henry Hardwick... Uh no. This is not gonna work for me.  ...

Like a River Glorious (The Gold Seer Trilogy #2) by Rae Carson Book Review

Like a River Glorious (The Gold Seer Trilogy #2) by   Rae Carson Book Review (3.5 stars)  I reeeeeaaaallllllyyy, REEEEEEEAAAAAAALLLLLYYY wish Rae Carson wouldn't have decided to make this a trilogy. Walk On Earth A Stranger? It waaay over-exceeded my expectations, and I loved it!  But this one? It really just wasn't doing it for me... Here's a list of pros and cons/likes and dislikes/ stuff I enjoyed and crap I want to complain about.....(I'll just stop.) PROS. 1) It seemed well researched, I got sucked into it, and I DID enjoy time traveling back into the 1850's. 2) The main characters were realistic, flawed and believable. CONS. 1) I felt that if Rae would have wrapped up a few loose ends in the ending of Walk On Earth;  a second, Much less a THIRD book would be unnecessary.  2) The plot was unimaginative, and it seemed like Rae rushed it because of deadlines... 3) There was nothing original about this book. My main feeling throughout the whole ...

Walk on Earth a Stranger (The Gold Seer Trilogy, #1) by Rae Carson, Book Review

Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson  Book Review by Cassia Ashen I am so pleasantly surprised and utterly in love with this book. The story line is engaging, detailed and OH-SO twisty! The writing is FANTABULOUS and well researched...Also. Another strong female lead! FINALLY! It's been EONS since I've had one of those.  I am so sick and tired of Tris Prior/Bella Swan characters who can't seem to do anything by themselves except whine, and pine over boys.  Soooo not the case, in this amazing book. Character development is some of the best I have read so far this year.  So yes. yes yes yes yes yes. Buckle your seatbelt, grab some chocolate, and get ready for the feels. Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 2 (Orange: The Complete Collection #2) by Ichigo Takano, Amber Tamosaitis (Translator) Manga Review

Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 2 (Orange: The Complete Collection #2) by   Ichigo Takano ,   Amber Tamosaitis   (Translator) Manga Review This was better than the first book in a few ways. For one thing, I was more attached to the characters and that made it more enjoyable in whole. The plot was great, and I did end up crying this time... I highly recommend :) (you can also read this review on Goodreads)

Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 1 (Orange: The Complete Collection #1) by Ichigo Takano, Amber Tamosaitis (Translator) Manga Review

Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 1 (Orange: The Complete Collection #1) by   Ichigo Takano ,   Amber Tamosaitis   (Translator)  Manga Review! (3.5 stars) I was reaaaally hoping this book would make me cry, because it caused so many other reader to weep like little babies, and I love sad books........ Frankly, the only reason I'm crying is because it was So. Disappointing. I guess I should probably tell you first and foremost that I am not a huge manga and/or anime fan. I'm just not. I've tried quite a few volumes in the past and they just weren't really my cup of tea. They were either super gory, gross, and/or sexual...Or else, completely childish, innocent and Boooooring with a capital B. I gotta say, if I had to choose, Orange is definitely more of the second option... Example, It's supposedly a 'romance' and yet in the entire volume no one kisses. LITERALLY no one. I think there's maybe two scenes in the entire thing wher...
